Why Choose Green?

Green Flooring

Carpetland USA is dedicated to preserving our environment by offering a variety of eco-friendly floors. Choosing from our selection of green floors means making a difference-one environmentally conscious consumer decision at a time. But what does it mean to the environment when you choose a green floor?

When a flooring product boasts that it is a green or eco-friendly floor it refers to a substance or manufacturing method that utilizes renewable and/or recycled material or energy sources versus non-renewable material sources that, once depleted, are gone forever.

In addition to flooring products marketed as green, there is another category called sustainable flooring. Sustainable flooring products are those that minimize the impact on the environment at each phase of the product’s life cycle thereby reducing your “carbon footprint.”

Carpetland USA offers the most popular green products including cork, bamboo and linoleum. In addition, Carpetland also has many new and existing sustainable flooring products such as natural carpets made from cotton, recycled or reclaimed wood and carpet, wools and grass, stone, ceramic tile, chlorine-free resilient, recycled rubber and VCT vinyl.

Carpetland USA boasts leading environmentally-friendly brands in every product category including Shaw, Epic, Anderson, Mannington, Anso, EverTouch, EcoWorx and many more, allowing you to choose from the very best while staying “green.”

Cork floors are created by extracting only the bark from the tree, meaning the tree is left completely intact. Each tree will grow a new layer of bark that can be harvested approximately every 8-10 years. Cork absorbs sound, offers great insulation qualities, and is available in a wide variety of colors and styles.

Recent advancements in bamboo flooring present finer detail and darker shades than were previously available. When bamboo is cut the roots remain intact so fresh new sprouts can grow. Since bamboo is a fast growing grass, it can grow from sprouts to harvesting in three to five years, providing more flooring per acre than trees.

Engineered to last, laminate offers a long life span that minimizes replacement. And while it simulates the upscale look of a natural product like an exotic hardwood or ceramic tile, the actual material isn't used and the natural resource preserved. You can find top of the line laminate from Shaw, Mannington and other brands at Carpetland USA’s showroom.

Sustainable carpets use post-consumer and industrial materials, biodegradable dyes and solutions, and recycled wastewater. Many of Carpetland USA’s featured products from Shaw, such as the Evergreen line, Evertouch, Eco Solution Q®, and Anso brands, are made from recyclable nylon fibers like Type 6 Nylon, which is the only carpet fiber that can be recycled back into carpet fiber again and again.

Carpetland USA features several of the top eco-friendly and sustainable hardwood floor brands including Mannington, Anderson and Epictm Hardwood, which uses EnviroCore™ - a high-density-fiber (HDF) core made from post-industrial recycled wood fiber. Use of this innovative core means consumption of fewer trees and less waste.

Sustainable hardwood floors are made from recycled wood and/or antique woods that offer a timeless, weathered look. Sustainable wood is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and comes from managed forests, lessening the impact on the environment.

Ceramic floors are primarily made from natural and renewable resources and are exceptionally durable.

Stone floors offer low extraction impact on the planet and are exceptionally long lasting.

Resilient floors are available chlorine-free and are typically made from recycled vinyl and plastics. In this form, it is a highly durable product with a long life cycle.

VCT vinyl tile, made primarily of limestone, is long lasting and offers a high performance rating.
